    Don’t Patronise Young Voters

This morning I woke up early to do a workout, but I made the mistake of going onto Instagram. I saw the offending picture and I am incensed.  Earlier this week, Stormzy posted on his social outlets that he urged people to register to vote, he reminded his followers why voting was essential for all because the manifestos you are voting for have a massive impact on our future. In this post, he also discussed his personal political leanings, he would be voting for Labour. However, he urged his followers to come to their own decisions by doing their research. The first thing that really pissed me off was Michael…

    Embracing Age

I’ve been thinking about things recently, thinking about some of the things I felt insecure about when I was younger and how my relationship with myself has changed so much over the years. I can honestly say, I have never been so content in my own skin. I don’t mean to sound full of myself by saying that, I just mean that as the years have passed, I have a greater sense of clarity about myself and there is something liberating in that. Things that I would jibe myself about in my teens and twenty, now seem like total bullshit. Here is a list of a few of the things…

    Nurturing Friendship

I have just returned from a weekend away with my best friend of 33 years, Roxanna. Despite being best friends our whole entire life, we have only been away together as a pair once before, in 2015 to Vegas.  The weekend was spent in Rome, a city that I had never been to and one which she had only visited briefly as a teenager. One of the main attractions was its reputation for amazing food and abundant gelateries! And on both fronts, boy did it deliver!  Sometimes motherhood is all consuming and at times I reflect nostalgically on my pre-baby friendships, where I would be able to have conversations without…

    June 2019: Makeup Edit Favourites

I thought I’d just create a little edit of the stuff which I have been loving to slap on my face at the moment. I have combination/oily skin which is prone to a breakout or two. As a result, I have a flurry of blemish marks on my face which have faded over time. I tend to like a bit of coverage on them though as I prefer to have a more even base. It’s late Spring in the UK at the moment and my shiny ass skin doesn’t need a tonne of glowy products. I thought I’d make that clear from the outset as my skin type reflects my…

    Brotherly Bond Blossoming

I am one of two daughters; my sister and I are legit besties. We have always been close (despite the not speaking to each other for about 3 months in 1999 because we just ‘hated’ each other) and having a big sister by my side has definitely been such a support throughout my life. My husband is an only child. He had lots of cousins around growing up, but he did feel like he was missing out on something when at home on his own. I had always wanted more than one child, and I kinda think that was because I enjoyed having a sibling so much that I wanted…

The Only Girl in the House

I have never made it a secret that I always imagined having a daughter. I have one sister and an extended family full of girls and I have always been surrounded by them. When I was pregnant with my older son, we chose not to find out the gender prior to birth, I didn’t feel the need to and I was rather excited about finding it out at the actual time of birth. I won’t lie, there was a tiny part of me hoping that it would be a girl, but when he arrived, I was totally over the moon to have my little pudding. And anyway, I always wanted…

    “Does it get boring?”

My dad dropped by the other day. We were in the living room, the little one playing on the floor, me on the floor playing with him and my dad on the sofa. After a few minutes of observing us, my dad asked, “sometimes, do you find this all a bit boring?” I instantly felt a little embarrassed, did my facial expression or tone of voice suggest that?! I hesitated slightly when responding. I felt like I should say, “no way, I love it!” but I then I just said what my face was saying for me, “sometimes it can be a bit, numbing”.  And that’s the honest truth. I…

    Finding Fitness

Firstly, let me make some things very clear about myself: I have no fitness qualifications and everything that I am sharing it just my journey I do not have a flat tummy and I have never seen an ab on my body, ever I do not have an athletic build with muscles popping out, in fact I have a part time muffin top which likes to come out and party sometimes I eat everything and do not have a restricted diet I have had two kids, both of which were massive (8.8lbs and 9.5lbs respectively) and my body shows the excess skin, the body changes and stretch marks that come…

‘Raising Boys’- The Book That Made Me a Better Mum

Becoming a mum was one of things that I had always daydreamed about. What would my children look like? How would they inherit our features? What names would we give them? I would imagine playing with them, cooking for them, reading with them, cuddling them… you know, all the cute lovely filtered mum stuff. I also now acknowledge, that most of my daydreams included girls, boys weren’t really in these daydreams. I think this was down to the fact that in my own household there was just my sister and I, and my extended family is predominantly girls. Boys didn’t feature because I didn’t have a reference point for them.…

    I Got Kondoed!

If you don’t know who Marie Kondo is, you must have been living under a rock since the new year. She has a series called ‘Tidying Up with Marie Kondo’ on Netflix and it has been a must watch for many. I first heard about Marie Kondo and the Konmari Method about a year ago from a best friend of mine. She and her husband has been watching some minimalism documentaries and felt inspired to give their flat an overhaul. In fairness, my friend is already a minimalist so this project was more focused on her husband with her by the side giving guidance. She briefly told me about the…
